Network Analysis (Micro Course)
This 10-day course aims to provide individuals with the foundational knowledge and skills needed to use Wireshark effectively in the Network and Security Analyst role. Wireshark is a powerful network analysis tool used by Network and Security Analysts to capture and analyze network traffic. Learners will capture, filter, and interpret network packets, as well as identify potential security threats and anomalies.

This course is designed for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career as a Network Cyber Analyst. Learners should have a basic understanding of computer usage and networking concepts. To be considered for this course, learners must demonstrate basic computer literacy, familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, or Linux), and networking basics (e.g., IP addresses, ports).
Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of all course requirements, learners will:
- Explain the fundamentals of Ethernet LANs.
- Apply the OSI and TCP/IP models, network topologies, and network protocols.
- Install and set up Wireshark on a computer.
- Summarize the key features and functionalities of Wireshark.
- Capture packets from a live network interface and save the capture to a file.
- Analyze the captured packets to identify specific protocols.
- Export Captured Data From Wireshark.
- Identify hosts and network users.
- Develop filters to isolate suspicious network activities.
