This 10-week Security Analyst course is an intensive and comprehensive hands-on-oriented technical training. This advanced course is designed for Individuals seeking entry to mid-level cybersecurity roles. Learners gain a deep understanding of essential IT security concepts and develop critical technical skills to help protect systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks. Learners will engage with cutting-edge technologies, industry standards, and best practices to protect organizations and their underlying infrastructure from a wide range of risks from physical and cyber threats and hazards. As part of the course, learners will prepare and test for the CompTIA Security+ certification. Upon successful course completion, learners will be equipped to pursue a range of roles, such as IT Security Administrators and Cybersecurity Analysts.

What you’ll learn:

  • Explain the core concepts of cybersecurity, including threat actors, attack vectors, and security controls.
  • Identify and analyze various types of malware, such as viruses, worms, Trojans, and ransomware, and develop strategies to mitigate their impact.
  • Describe principles of cryptography and its applications in securing data, communications, and authentication processes.
  • Configure and manage network security devices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPNs, to protect against unauthorized access and malicious activities.
  • Implement secure protocols and encryption mechanisms to safeguard data in transit and at rest.
  • Evaluate techniques for assessing and mitigating security risks in network environments, including vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, and risk management frameworks.
  • Explain the importance of security awareness training and user education in maintaining a secure organizational environment.
  • Prepare for the CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) certification exam by mastering exam objectives, practicing with sample questions, and using test-taking strategies.

Class Breakdown

  • Technical Instruction (Synchronous)- 9 hours per week
  • Self-Study (Asynchronous)- Up to 9 hours per week
  • Open Labs/Office Hours*- 3-5 hours per week
